About

Sandeep Singh Randhawa is an Academic General Practitioner with an interest in medical education and simulation training. He is currently working alongside the ISU and Community Based Medicine teams at the University. He also facilitates at the Hollier Simulation Centre and works part-time as a Salaried GP for the Vitality Partnership.

Biography

SS Randhawa qualified with an MBChB in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2003 before completing his House Officer jobs at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

He subsequently was an Anatomy Demonstrator at the University of Birmingham before going on to a Basic Surgical Training Scheme in the North-West of England.

In 2007 following MTAS, he joined the GP Vocational Training Scheme in the West Midlands Deanery and was based in the Black Country Rotation. He then joined an Academic Post in 2009 in the Sandwell and City Heart of Birmingham Rotation based at Laurie Pike Health Centre where he completed his clinical training. He also completed his Masters at the University of Birmingham.

His interests in medical education and simulation have fostered links with the Hollier Simulation Centre at Good Hope Hospital, as well as being actively involved in the Medical Undergraduate Programme in Integrated Problems, Clinical Communication and Community Based Medicine.

He currently works part-time as a GP alongside his University work and simulation interests.

Research

Medical Education and Simulation

SS Randhawa has completed his Masters on ‘Professionalism in Medical Simulation’ whilst based at The University of Birmingham. He has also presented a research paper at the Association of Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) 2011 on ‘Utilising the NASA TLX for Workload’ in a simulation context. He was awarded the best oral and best overall presentation at this national event alongside his collaborating colleagues at the Hollier Simulation Centre.
