Razia qualified as a General Nurse in 1992 and worked within the Surgical unit at Selly Oak Hospital Birmingham, whilst studying for a B.S.c in Health Sciences at Coventry University. She was appointed as the Midlands Co-ordinator for the UK Small Aneurysm Trial at Leicester University and went on to design, implement and manage a community screening programme to identify patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm. Razia moved from the NHS into the commercial sector, working as a Clinical Trials Monitor for Clinpharm on secondment to Glaxowelcome.
