Behnoush is a Research Assistant on the WAVES study (West Midlands ActiVe lifestyle and healthy Eating in School children study).

Biography

Behnoush graduated from the Faculty of Nutrition Sciences and Food Technology, Tehran in 1995. She completed her second degree in Public Health in Nutrition at School of Public Health, Tehran University in 1999. She worked as nutrition researcher for 6 years and then moved to the UK to complete her PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology in 2006. Her PhD project was an integrated research to inform the development of a childhood obesity prevention intervention which comprised of a qualitative study to collect views of parents and school staff on contributing factors to childhood obesity, potential activities to prevent childhood obesity, and barriers to successful intervention.

Research

Behnoush is currently working on the WAVES study, focusing on the prevention of obesity and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, in primary school aged children in West Midlands.

Behnoush has been working on epidemiology of childhood obesity for about ten years and she contributed to three related projects in Iran as principal or co-investigator and contributed in writing a chapter about childhood obesity in Iran in “Global Dimensions of Childhood Obesity”.
