Alison Coates is the Programme Director of the Bachelor of Nursing degree and has overall responsibility for ensuring the development of new nursing programmes and the effective implementation of the current programme.

Alison trained as a mental health and adultnurse in Salford and Manchester. As a clinical nurse Alison worked inadult, older adult mental health care and in forensic nursing as a Charge Nurse. Shejoined the University as a part time lecturer (teaching), in 1995. Since thistime she has contributed and taught on undergraduate and post graduateprogrammes. Alison has held a variety of roles within the nursing divisionand she is currently the Programme Director of the Bachelor of Nursing degree.

Alison currently supervises post graduate students on the Masters of Research progamme
Alison has a teaching focussed contract and her main interest is in teaching and learning.
Alison is a Non-Executive Director (Trustee) of BITA Pathways (Birmingham Industrial Therapy Association Limited: a registered charity providing work and vocational training for 500 people with mental health problems
