After qualifying from Southampton University Medical School, Paramjit worked in a number of hospital and community posts before entering academic General Practice.

Paramjit also teaches on a number of national and international CPD courses. He has also contributed to a number of innovative training modules including ‘Promoting Equality and Valuing Diversity’ module; an online e-learning resource for the new GP Curriculum (http://e-lfh.org.uk/projects/egp/index.html) and the BHF ‘Healthy Hearts Kit’ training manual which won ‘The 2010 BMA Patient Information Resource of the Year’ prize.

Paramjit is currently principal supervisor for Doctoral students looking at:

• Ethnic Differences in Vascular Endothelial Function in Chronic Heart Failure
• Peripheral Arterial Disease amongst minority ethnic communities in the UK
• Antecedents, Characterisation and Validity of Cardiovascular Disease Biomarkers amongst Ethnic minorities in the UK
• Decision making in primary care consultations
• Beliefs and adherence to medicines in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: the influence of ethnicity

Research interests include addressing health inequalities particularly amongst migrant populations and evidence-based health care and its application to health care delivery. His current focus is on cardiovascular health.

Paramjit is engaged in the full range of research methodologies from both the quantitative and qualitative paradigms.
