The Ninth Cadbury Conference features cross-disciplinary South Africanist research that resonates with African Studies more broadly and that models new ways of looking at South Africa and other parts of Africa together, thereby critically interrogating South African exceptionalism.
Presenters will be reflecting originally and comparatively on topics including: the technologies, institutions and ideologies of governance and opposition; representations of South Africa past and present in film and creative writing; aspects of Zulu history; and the experiences and representations of immigrants and sexual minorities.
The conference will take place in the Danford room of the Department of African Studies and Anthropologyin the Arts Building (2nd floor) on the Edgbaston Campus of the University of Birmingham. R16 on the campus map
There is no registration charge for the conference but we would be very grateful if anyone wishing to attend the conference could email David Kerr firstname.lastname@example.org as space at the conference is limited.
