 Abstract

Pentecostal Christianity has grown rapidly in South Africa as it has throughout the sub-Sahara. This talk, based on fieldwork in Soshanguve in the Tshwane Metropolitan Region for over two decades, explores the relationship between Pentecostalism and other forms of African popular religion, and asks whether this is a continuous or discontinuous one.
