On 11th July, Dr Maxim Bolt and Heather Cullen represented UoB at the annual London Anthropology Day at the British Museum. A taster event for A-level students considering anthropology at university, LAD was especially well attended this year.
The focus of the day was a programme of lectures designed to introduce the discipline of anthropology. In one of the British Museum's main lecture theatres, Maxim challenged students to rethink what mobile phones do in people's everyday lives today. Taking Africa as a regional focus, he explored the place of phones in economic and political activity, and in affecting personal, intimate relationships. Meanwhile, throughout the day, UoB's stall was busy with enquiries about our wide range of Anthropology and African Studies degree combinations.
