I am a PhD student at the University of Birmingham where I am studying the cultural journey of Ann Yearsley, an eighteenth-century, labouring-class, female poet.
My study focuses on Yearsley’s climb from dairymaid and seller of milk, to published poet with a significant body of work. This project builds on my previous studies at Masters level.
The University provides first rate study facilities, along with a first-class Centre for West Midlands History. I have been able to attend day schools and workshops that have been both stimulating and informative.
My PhD experience has been facilitated throughout by the excellent support and supervision of Dr Malcolm Dick.
