PhD title: The marvellous and the miraculous in Latin narrative histories of the crusades, 1095-1291
Supervisor: Dr William Purkis
PhD Medieval History

Beth is currently in the second year of an AHRC-funded, full-time PhD in Medieval History. She completed both her BA (Hons) Ancient and Medieval History (2007-2010) and MA Medieval History (2010-2011) at the University of Birmingham. Her research focuses on themes surrounding the marvellous and miraculous in narrative histories of, and relating to, the early crusades. Specifically, her research includes the exploration of the potential functions of, for example, celestial phenomena, visions, dreams, wonders, portents, and apparitions in these works. More broadly, Beth is interested in medieval European religious and material cultures.

Beth is also on the committee for the EMREM Postgraduate Forum.
