Postgraduate study

Photograph of an archaeologist in an excavationOur postgraduates have the opportunity to further enhance their research and life skills through Professional Preparation programmes, or to progress to researching their own chosen area, drawing support from the wide range of expertise of our academic staff, whether they specialise in archaeology or in the other areas of expertise in Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology (CAHA) for more cross-disciplinary subjects.

The taught MA programmes are offered as a flexible pathway that offers core subjects and then optional modules so you can tailor a distinctive and coherent programme in the particular study areas and skills that interest you.

Research degrees are offered as one year pure research programmes (leading to an MRes) or a three year PhD or can be offered in combination with taught elements as an MA by Research.
