The Ironbridge Institute lies 40 miles away from Birmingham, less than an hour's drive, and is only a ten minute drive from Telford Central railway station, which can be reached in less than three hours from London (Euston).
See the how to find us section for maps and directions to Ironbridge. The Institute is located on the second floor of the Long Warehouse. Full-time students studying at Ironbridge Institute generally find accommodation in the 18th century ironworkers' cottages or Victorian villas that line the slopes of Coalbrookdale.
The Ironbridge Institute is jointly managed by the University of Birmingham and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. The University is one of Britain's foremost academic institutions, with more than 17000 students, and a reputation for excellence in teaching and research in many disciplines, including the management of non-profit organisations and the history of industry, which relate to the subjects taught at Ironbridge.
Within the University the Ironbridge Institute is part of the Institute of Archaeology and Antiquity in the College of Arts and Law. The Institute has many formal and informal links with the staff of Birmingham Archaeology, which is also a member of the same School.
