Dr Zania Stamataki was invited to meet Prince Andrew recently at a Royal Society event which brought together its early career scientists for a superb networking opportunity to discuss their research and form potential collaborations.
The event on the 18th October 2012 was the suggestion of the Duke of York who has taken a keen interest in the work of the Royal Society and its researchers. It took place at St James Palace and despite a full room, the Prince spent quite some time conversing with Zania about her work at the University of Birmingham.
Dr Stamataki is Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow and is based at the Centre for Virology, University of Birmingham. She is a viral immunologist with a specific interest in persistent infection and chronic inflammation.
