You will receive an acknowledgement letter once your application form has been received by Postgraduate Admissions. If any documents have not been included with your application form you will be informed of this.
Is there a closing date for applications?
There is no formal closing date for applications. We do however encourage International Students to apply by the end of May so that they have time to take any English tests that may be required and obtain visas.
When will I find out whether I have an offer?
Once Birmingham Law School has received a complete application the admissions manager will review this and make a recommendation to the Postgraduate Admissions Office.
If you have been successful a formal offer letter will be sent from the Postgraduate Admissions office detailing any conditions attached to your offer. With this will be sent the following:
Accommodation information and Application Form
Information and application forms for University Scholarships
Guidance sheet taking you through the procedure from offer to registration.
If you have been unsuccessful and we are unable to offer you a place you will receive a letter from the Postgraduate Admissions Office informing you of this.
Once you have fulfilled the conditions attached to your offer the Postgraduate Admissions Office will write to you confirming this. They will also send you a certificate to help you through UK immigration formalities or to obtain a visa if required.
If you do not manage to fulfil the conditions then a letter will be sent to you confirming this and withdrawing the offer of a place.
How do I register to start the programme?
If you live outside of the UK your registration papers need to be collected from the Aston Webb Building. If you live within the UK these will be sent to your address. It is advisable to arrive a few days before your course starts to allow you time to finalise any arrangements such as accommodation.
What accomodation is available for postgraduate students?
Any queries regarding accommodation need to be directed to Housing Services. See details below:
Tel: +44(0)121 414 8000
How do I find out about pre-sessional English courses?
Any queries regarding these need to be directed to the English for International Students Unit.
Does the law school have an induction day?
We offer a two-day Induction Programme which takes place the week preceding the beginning of term. Details of this will be sent out in September to all applicants who have accepted their offers. Over these two days you will have the opportunity to meet members of staff and other LLM students. You will be given a handbook which will contain information about the course.
