Dr Astrid Sanders is an expert in Labour Law.
My office hours for this semester will be Mondays 12-2pm (except for Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May. Instead, my office hours will be 12:30-2:30pm on Tuesday 7th May).
Due to invigilating, my office hours on 13th May will be on 16th May from 12 noon to 2pm.
After examinations, my office hours on 3rd June will be on 4th June from 1-3pm.

Dr Astrid Sanders joined Birmingham Law School in September 2009 after completing both her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. Dr. Sanders obtained her doctorate from the University of Oxford. As well as her D.Phil, Dr Sanders earlier obtained two other postgraduate degrees at Corpus Christi College. In 2006, she obtained a BCL and in 2007, she obtained an M.Phil. She also achieved outstanding marks as an undergraduate in her law examinations. The University of Oxford notably awarded her two prizes for Best Performance. Before joining Birmingham Law School and whilst studying for her doctorate, Dr Sanders taught previously at King’s College Law School in London.
Dr Sanders is module leader for Labour Law (LLB) and module leader for Globalisation and Labour Rights (LLM). She also lectures in Contract Law.
Dr Sanders is currently supervising two doctoral students undertaking research in the following area:
Dr Sanders’ particular area of interest is labour law, including both domestic and international labour law. Her doctorate examined the legal accountability of multinational corporations for abuses of core labour rights in global supply chains under English and US domestic laws of contract and tort. She has also published articles on domestic labour law, in particular on the law of unfair dismissal.
