The Basque, Catalan and Galician cinema season is organised by the University of Birmingham, in association with the Etxepare Basque Institute, the Institut Ramon Llull and the Xunta de Galicia.
This year's screenings at the Library of Birmingham began on 8 May with the Basque film 'Urte Berri On, Amona!' (Happy New Year, Grandma!). The director Telmo Esnal [centre, below] took part in a question and answer session after the screening.
On 13 May director Fernando Cortizo [centre, below] and producer Isabel Rey [left, below] brought us the Galician animated film 'O Apóstolo' (The Apostle).
Completing the 2014 season, on 15 May, Catalan film La Plaga (The Plague), directed by Neus Ballús, was followed by a discussion with producer and co-writer Pau Subirós [right, below].
The organisers of the event were [left to right, below] Raquel Navas (Catalan Studies), Gorka Mercero (Basque Studies), Elisenda Marcer (Catalan Studies) and Paloma Serrapio (Centre for Galician Studies).
