Dominic took his first degree in Modern and Medieval Languages at Girton College, Cambridge, specialising in historical romance linguistics. He then moved to Birmingham to complete a one-year MPhil in Corpus Linguistics within the English department. His PhD topic, supervised by Professor Wolfgang Teubert and Dr. Patricia Odber de Baubeta, uses these corpus techniques to investigate the political language of President Hugo Chávez in Venezuela. He held the Sir Henry Thomas scholarship from 2005-2008.
