An outstanding group of Old Master and 19th-century paintings – including masterpieces by Poussin, Turner, Monet and Manet – go on show at the National Gallery, London this summer as part of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Birmingham's Barber Institute of Fine Arts. Birth of a Collection: Masterpieces from the Barber Institute of Fine Arts runs from 22 May to 1 September 2013.

£10,000 scholarships for Masters study at the University of Birmingham

For 2015 entry the University has two brand new schemes which offer £10,000 scholarships for Masters students. These scholarships have been jointly funded by the British Government; the allocation of the awards, which is the fourth highest in the UK, further cements Birmingham's place amongst the very best higher education institutions for postgraduate study.
