PhD Italian Studies
Having completed my Masters at the University of Silesia (Poland) with a thesis on comparative linguistics (Dialetto della Valtenna e italiano: due sistemi morfologici a confronto) in 2005, I started my PhD studies at the University of Birmingham in 2007.
I have based my research into neostandard Italian on the corpus of data created by the Italian sports press: La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport-Stadio and Tuttosport.
The focus of my project is morphosyntactic neostandard elements, such as the new status of the subjunctive mood, personal pronouns, the position of adjective in the phrase, and many other phenomena of today's Italian.
My current supervisor, Dr Paolo De Ventura, has been supervising my work while giving good training in research and exceptional support in linguistics.
Recently I presented my research by preparing the papers for conferences at University College Cork (La lingua dello sport nel panorama delle lingue speciali), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (La lengua actual del deporte en Italia) and Universidad Iberoamericana (Alcuni tratti morfosintattici dell’italiano neostandard: uno sguardo alla stampa sportiva).
