Undergraduate study in Italian

Studying Italian will give you a unique insight into a fascinating and multi-faceted language and culture.

Italy has a particularly rich history, in terms of art, architecture, literature, political thought and linguistic traditions, and continues to be a strong global influence today in areas as diverse as design, cinema, and sport.

At Birmingham you can study Italian as a single language as part of our BA Modern Languages, or alongside a wide range of other subjects and languages: scroll down for further details. We welcome both beginners and advanced students, and provide tailored language teaching, helping you to develop excellent language skills whatever your knowledge of Italian when you join us. All students follow a core language module in each year, and also select from a range of options that focus on different aspects of the language, culture, art, society, history and politics of Italy. Our courses are meticulously designed to encourage maximum student participation, foster active learning, and enable students to develop key employability skills and confidence in an enjoyable and supportive environment.
