Atalante is named in honour of Leonardo da Vinci’s musical colleague, Atalante Migliorotti, inventor of the lirone. That magical and ethereal bowed instrument has been Erin Headley’s domain for the past 30 years through an astonishing number of performances and recordings that have been acclaimed worldwide. This programme features ancient laments from their first two CDs – of Mary Magdalene, St Catherine, Artemesia, Helen of Troy and the Turkish Zaïda - by Luigi Rossi, Marco Marazzoli and Domenico Mazzocchi.
