Birmingham Symphonic Winds and their director, Keith Allen, join the University Wind Band in their capacity as Ensemble in Residence at the University of Birmingham. The two groups present a springtime concert in the Elgar Concert Hall featuring recently premiered works and music celebrating voyages of discovery. The programme includes popular works by prolific wind band and Royal Shakespeare Company composer, Guy Woolfenden OBE. Woolfenden will be recognised at the 2015 ‘World-Wide-Woolfenden’ event on 24 May at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon that celebrates his contribution to British music.
