Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare
The 200-strong University Chorus perform music influenced by Shakespeare and the stage under one of the country’s leading choral directors, Julian Wilkins. They present music from Vaughan Williams’s Shakespeare inspired opera, Sir John in Love with the cantata In Windsor Forest. In contrast, jazz pianist George Shearing’s Songs and Sonnets features piano and double bass in a spirited, jazz influenced celebration of the Bard, in this, the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare’s death.
Venue: Elgar Concert Hall, Bramall Music Building
Tickets: £10, £8 concessions, £3 students (Available via the Bramall website or on the door)
