Description
Concert pianist Kenneth Hamilton returns to the Barber with an intriguing tour of some of the most imaginative and capricious 19th-century pieces for piano, starting with Beethoven's impatiently eccentric Op. 77 Fantasy, moving through Mendelssohn, Chopin and Liszt, and coming full circle with Schumann's glorious Fantasy Op. 17, dedicated to Liszt, but secretly brimming with hidden references to Beethoven himself.

Description
Principal bassoonist with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra since 2008, Peter Whelan was described by the Philadelphia Enquirer as 'an absolute master of fleet facility with a solidly plush tone of wondrous immediacy'. He is in constant demand as a soloist and chamber musician and has received glowing responses from audiences and critics alike, including a Gramophone Award for his recording of Vivaldi bassoon concertos with La Serenissima in 2010. Peter is joined by pianist and fellow Scottish Chamber Orchestra member, Simon Smith, for this lunchtime recital.
