As Artistic Director of the City of Birmingham Early Music Festival 2011, Mary O’Neill (Director of our Centre for Early Music Performance and Research) has devised a festival of stunning music pre-1800 that includes UK and modern world premieres. Three of the four core concerts in the festival showcase research in early music being undertaken by staff at the University of Birmingham.
The festival is supported by the Barber Trust and is one of the many ways in which the University engages with the city: in this instance, bringing concerts of international excellence to the city and the region, based on cutting-edge research on music pre-1800.
