Joanne Cormac, PhD student from the Music Department, recently gave well-received papers at three international ‘Liszt conferences’ organized in recognition of the bicentenary of the composer’s birth.

In July this year she gave a paper on Liszt’s symphonic poem Orpheus at a conference in Ottawa, in September she went to Briosco in Italy to give a paper on Liszt’s tours of the United Kingdom and Ireland, and most recently she spoke about the influence of a Polish actor on Liszt’s symphonic poem Hamlet at a conference in Budapest.

Extended versions of her papers given at these conferences will be published as conference proceedings.
