37 members of the Birmingham University Singers performed on the opening night of the BBC Proms on Friday 12 July 2013 in the Royal Albert Hall.
The conductor Sakari Oramo commented: "From the depth of my heart deeply felt thanks for everybody that I had the joy, honour and privilege to share the Royal Albert Hall stage last Friday, and to those who helped in achieving that unique atmosphere on the night. It was absolutely awesome to feel that you could have heard a pin drop in the quietest moments, and that even in The Sea Symphony´s mightiest moments I could feel a direct communication with every single one of you. Your dedication and responsiveness made it truly a night to remember!"
BBC Midlands Today followed the choir during this amazing experience.
