About

I am a composer of instrumental and vocal music particularly interested in harmony. I am also a classical, jazz and gospel pianist, and often premiere my own compositions and those of my peers.

PhD in Composition - University of Manchester

Teaching

Since September 2008 I have taught musicianship, orchestration, composition and tonality at the University of Manchester.

Since September 2013 I have taught harmony, counterpoint and modules in the history of music at the University of Birmingham.

Research

As a composer, my current research is focussed on writing works which explore the relationship between teleology and harmony.

Other activities

I am the Musical Director for several gospel choirs including the award-winning Harmony Gospel Choir.
