Undergraduate study in Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music

The School brings together a number of internationally renowned departments to offer an extensive portfolio of innovative and interdisciplinary programmes in an exciting and creative environment, underpinned by a vibrant research culture.

The School includes the following departments: Art History, Curating and Visual Studies, Modern Languages (Including French Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies, Italian Studies, Russian Studies, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic), and Music. Interdisciplinary study and research are a key strength of the School, and there are opportunities to pursue these across a range of cultural, literary, historical and socio-political perspectives.

There is a thriving undergraduate and postgraduate student community, benefiting from world-class facilities such as the Barber Institute of Fine Arts and the new state-of-the-art Bramall Music Building, and the advantages that an intellectually stimulating environment offers.

Foundation programmes

For international students from 12-year education systems, all the above programmes are available with a foundation year through the Birmingham Foundation Academy.
