What is Mathematics?

Mathematics is a systematic way of structuring thought and arguments, which is tied closely to a coherent body of associated knowledge. Study mathematics and you will acquire a broad range of skills, such as logical thinking and problem solving. These will help you in your academic life, and as you progress in your future career. You will be able to see how mathematics touches our everyday lives by playing a key role in engineering, biology, management, economics, medicine and the social and behavioural sciences.

Many graduates go on to do a postgraduate teacher training course, or study for an MSc or PhD in a variety of subjects.
