Dr Christine Carrington has over twenty years’ experience of working in the pharmaceutical development industry, mostly in virtual, start-up and small biotech companies. She graduated with a BSc from Birmingham University, gained a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Reading University, and followed this with ten years’ academic research at Washington State University and Cambridge University.
Christine then moved to a small biotech company, which subsequently became part of Novartis Pharma, initially as head of a research group and subsequently as Unit Head of Product Development. In 2001, she joined Alizyme Therapeutics Ltd, a virtual pharmaceutical company, and was responsible for all aspects of the development programme for one of Alizyme’s key products, including preliminary research, manufacturing, non-clinical studies, regulatory submissions and clinical studies.
She also has experience in due diligence, out-licensing and contract negotiations. In 2010, Christine became a freelance consultant (Luncia Consulting and Boyd Consultants), mainly working with European and North American companies in the early phases of developing gene based medicines.
