The School of Physics & Astronomy has held very successful residential conferences for Physics teachers in September every two or three years since 1951.
These events bring together Physics teachers from all around Britain to exchange views and experiences and update physics knowledge. The last residential conference for teachers took place on 10th -11th September 2011 - see programme (PDF), summary of conference themes (PDF) and report (PDF).

The University of Birmingham now works with the Institute of Physics and a Midlands consortium of university physics departments to organise regular teacher update courses in this area.
The School of Physics & Astronomy also works with the Institute of Physics Teacher Network in the West Midlands to organise meetings and Ideas Days for Teachers and Technicians.
