Hosted by the Knowledge Transfer Network, the event gathered experts from the food industry and academic researchers, with the food industry experts sharing their pearls of wisdom for early career researchers and providing advice on working in industry, and the academics sharing their research, and its relevance to the food industry.

Dr Thomas presented work from the University of Birmingham on ‘A social norms approach to health eating’. His presentation described how social norms can be used to promote healthy eating and how they could be used to help the food industry encourage their customers to make more healthy food choices.

Dr Thomas commented "this was a really excellent event, a rare chance for industry and academia to exchange ideas and contacts, and for early career researchers such as myself to get a master class on how to succeed in industry and in science more generally".

At the end of the event awards were handed out for the best presentations. Dr Thomas was awarded full membership of the Institute of Food Science and Technology.
