Dr Jason Braithwaite (pictured right) has been awarded a grant for €41,600 from the Bial Foundation to examine anomalous body experiences in non-clinical populations.

This new project will seek to develop new methods and paradigms to explore biases in the emotional processing of body-based information and how these biases can predispose some individuals to anomalous body experiences, experiences of dissociation and disembodiment.  These striking experiences are surprisingly common in non-clinical populations, though it is not currently known as to why this is the case. This project will seek to bridge this explanatory gap.

The project, which lasts for 12 months, will also hire a part-time Research Assistant.
