Doctoral Researcher paper looks at the effect of psychopathy on metacognition in schizophrenia
Description
Doctoral Researcher Ahmad Abu-Akel (pictured right) has had his paper accepted by the Journal of Abnormal Psychology. He has conducted research into the effect on metacognition, of comorbid psychopathy in schizophrenic patients with a history of criminal offending.

Student summer placements in Sri Lanka
Description
Over the summer, six undergraduate students in the School of Psychology took part in mental health, teaching and special needs placements in Sri Lanka. They shared their skills at psychiatric hospitals and ran therapeutic activity sessions at centres for individuals with various specific needs.

PhD student Supriya Malik, from the Cerebra Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, was awarded the Pat Howlin Prize at the Society for the Study of Behavioural Phenotypes International Scientific Symposium held at University College London in September.

Two doctoral researchers from the School of Psychology - Eva Reindl and Elisa Bandini, and Nimrita Rana from the Department of Anthropology and African Studies organised a successful one-day interdisciplinary conference on 'The Origins and Transmission of Culture (OToC)'.

Student paper exploring attitudes of support workers towards individuals with intellectual disabilities

Description
Undergraduate student Natalie Golding and Professor John Rose have published a paper in the Journal of Intellectual Disabilities which explores support workers' attitudes and knowledge towards individuals with intellectual disabilities to see whether a new attitude scale needs to be developed.
