My time at Birmingham

"Studying something you love is the best way to ensure your time here is one you will completely enjoy."

I chose to study at the University of Birmingham because the Psychology department is ranked amongst the top within the UK.

I wanted to pursue my degree at a university that would be able to offer me an intellectually stimulating environment. What makes the course stand out for me is the infectious enthusiasm of the teaching staff in sharing with us the latest developments in their respective fields.

My personal highlight of my time at Birmingham is Freshers’ Week where I got to make so many new friends, which helped me immensely with settling down in a foreign country.  I’m a member of the Psychology and Singapore Society as well as the University’s Sailing and Skydiving Club.

Living in Birmingham is really great, I can’t describe it in words! I really love the weather here and how everyone is so welcoming to me as an international student.

Living away from my family has really made me much more appreciative of everything back home but at the same time, it’s a challenging experience that I’m enjoying so much!

My top tip for prospective Birmingham students

Ensure the course you are studying is one you are passionate about and not solely just for the sake of coming to university. Studying something you love is the best way to ensure your time here is one you will completely enjoy, both in the academic and social aspects of university life.
