Title of PhD: The interplay between multisensory integration and awareness

Supervisor: Professor Uta Noppeney

Máté is undertaking his doctoral research into the effect of awareness on multisensory integration. He is using psychophysics, EEG and Bayesian modeling to investigate how different sensory inputs are integrated in the brain and how this integration is modulated by awareness.

Máté graduated as a Medical Doctor from the Univesity of Szeged, Hungary. Before starting his current PhD research he spent four years as a research assistant, investigating the pathomechanisms of sensorineural hearing losses at the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. He has also gained experience in medical practice by working at the Emergency Department of the Military Hospital of the Hungarian Defence Forces as a part time basis.


Research interests: Multisensory Integration, Computational Neuroscience, Bayesian Modeling, Neuroimaging, fMRI, EEG.

Other activities

Máté has over six years of experience as a volunteer (Activity Leader in high ropes course programs and Activity Coordinator) in summer camps for chronically ill children in the Bátor Tábor, a member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network.
