Verena Braun is undertaking doctoral research into oscillatory mechanisms underlying episodic memory formation and retrieval. The main focus will lie on the role of alpha/beta desynchronization using various techniques like tACS, EEG and fMRI. While recording EEG or fMRI, brain oscillations during encoding and retrieval will be manipulated, clarifying the causal role of oscillatory memory networks.

Verena obtained her undergraduate and Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Konstanz, Germany with the focus on Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Neurosciences, Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology.
During her undergraduate she worked as a research assistant under Prof. Dr Harald Schupp, conducting EEG and fMRI studies.
During her Masters she worked under the supervision of Dr. Simon Hanslmayr investigating the role of alpha/beta oscillatory activity during episodic memory retrieval. Verena is currently a PhD student at the University of Birmingham.
