Alexandra's main research interest is how the brain represents information that is processed by different sensory modalities and how it combines this information into a unified percept. In Alexandra's doctoral research she is investigating interactions between the auditory and visual modalities in the perceptual processing hierarchy using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Psychophysics.

Biography

Before Alexandra started her degree at the University of Birmingham she studied Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands). During the Master’s degree she worked for eight months with Niko Kriegeskorte and Arjen Alink at the MRC CBU in Cambridge on auditory motion capturing and decoding of orientation patterns from human visual cortex using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Multivariate Pattern Analysis and Psychophysics. After this period she worked for two months as research assistant with Hedwig Gockel and Bob Carlyon investigating the modulation rate specific adaptation in the frequency following response.
