The Fifth Annual Rabbi Tann Memorial Lecture is hosted under the auspices of the Department of Theology and Religion project: Jewish Heritage and Culture: Birmingham Prespectives.

Jews and Judaism under Christian Roman Emperors

delivered by:

Professor Martin Goodman (Professor of Jewish Studies and Fellow of Wolfson College, University of Oxford)

Martin Goodman is a leading scholar on the political, social and religious history of the Jews in the Roman empire. His interests have focussed in particular on the relationship of the Jews to the wider Roman world in which they lived. He is the author of seven books and a plethora of scholarly articles. His books include Rome and Jerusalem: The Clash of Ancient Civilizations (London: Penguin, 2007 and The Roman World 44 B.C. – A.D. 180 (London: Routledge 1997).
