The University's IdeasLab interviewed Dr Andrew Davies recently for their 'Predictor Podcast'. Interviewed by Lucy Vernall, Andrew discusses the dramatic growth of Pentecostal black majority churches in Britain and the subsequent rise of the 'megachurch'. In a far cry from the traditional village parish church, with a smattering of locals sauntering in for the weekly service, these formidable developments can accommodate thousands of parishioners. Andrew also talks about the 'new atheism' and looks at Christianity further afield, with an upsurge in Christian conversion in China (around 10,000 people a day), but a surprising rise in the persecution of Christians around the world.
