The Department of Theology and Religion is pleased to announce two new undergraduate programmes: Bachelor of Divinity (BD) and Master of Divinity (MDiv).
These programmes offer a distinctive Birmingham-style take on the traditional disciplines of Biblical Studies and Christian theology, taught in a positive but non-confessional context, with an optional emphasis on biblical languages and potential engagement with ancient Near Eastern history too. These programmes have a strong emphasis on the role and significance of the Bible in today’s world, as a cultural as well as a religious artefact of huge importance, and also focus heavily on the changing shape of global Christianity in today’s world. The MDiv is widely recognised internationally and in the UK as a valuable qualification particularly for those planning to continue their theological studies and training.
