Children who care - young carers: research, policy and practice

Aimed at leaders and managers in social work and social care professions, this seminar is led by Professor Saul Becker, University of Birmingham, who has advised governments, professionals and organisations around the world on how they can best support young carers.

Led by: Karen Broadhurst (Senior Lecturer in Socio-Legal Studies) and Claire Mason (Research Associate) School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, University of Manchester.

The seminar will focus on their current 2 year mixed methods national profiling study, funded by the Nuffield Foundation.

 

Are you a 21st century public servant?

Tuesday 3 November 2015, 4.30pm - 6.15pm

Led By: Catherine Needham, Reader in Public Policy and Public Public Management, Health Services Management Centre.

Catherine will explore the skills, values and behaviours that people in public service roles need to demonstrate. How do social work managers develop effective careers and make space to reflect on practice?  What training, toolkits and other resources are available to support those processes?
