The Twenty-first century public servant: developing our response
The nature of public services is changing and this has significant implications for those who work in them. The localism agenda and the devolution of power promise to dramatically alter systems of public services. Added to this, the increased involvement of private and third sector providers in the delivery of public services means that we are seeing a radical programme of public service reform. Taken together these changes could mean a significant shift in terms of what public servants do, where they do it, what skills they may need and what their career trajectories might look like.... The PSA will host a range of events and activities, which will seek to facilitate exchanges amongst and between academic colleagues and public service colleagues.
Autumn term: The 21st Century Public Servant
An invited audience of senior public servants and academics will join a round table discussion on the role of public servants and public service in the 21st century
Led by leading academics with a wide experience in policy and practice, these seminars are targeted at leaders and managers in all areas of the social work profession. Seminars will also be of interest to academics, health and social care professionals and postgraduate students.
