I took the single honours social policy degree. Over the course of my studies, I enjoyed the criminal justice modules and developed a particular interest in British Security Policy and Counter Terrorism, a topic which I chose to form the focus of my final year dissertation in which I explored the impacts of Security Policies upon British Muslims.
During my degree, I also competed for the University of Birmingham men's football team, was a student representative and gained work experience at a top human rights law firm and the Metropolitan Police.
After graduating with a 2:1, the knowledge gained during my degree contributed to my success in the initial stages of an application to the Metropolitan Police. However, I was also offered a football scholarship at a prestigious university in North Carolina to complete a Masters in Liberal Arts and Sciences which I accepted.
I feel that the knowledge and skills gained from my degree and the unparalleled support and guidance of my academic supervisors over my time in Birmingham have been the catalyst for an incredible three years and would recommend the degree to anyone looking to engage in interdisciplinary study.
