Dr Basia Spalek attended an expert roundtable in Warsaw earlier this year on 'Preventing Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalisation that Leads to Terrorism: a Community Policing Approach'.

This event was organised by the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), in co-operation with the Secretariat's Action against Terrorism Unit (ATU), and the Strategic Police Matters Unit (SPMU).

The roundtable gathered OSCE staff and external experts with academic, civil society and police experience to discuss the conceptual parameters for developing a guidebook on 'Preventing Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalisation that Lead to Terrorism: A Community Policing Approach'. The guidebook will be prepared in 2012 as a joint ATU-SPMU-ODIHR project.

Basia was invited to give a presentation based on her research.
