Community Day, Sunday 9 June 2013

Survivor Performance Arts and Exhibition, Community Day 2013As part of the University of Birmingham's Community Day on Sunday 9 June 2013, the Social Work Department, Institute of Applied Social Studies, are hosting a 'Survivor Performance Arts and Exhibition' in the Muirhead Tower from 11 am until 4 pm.

The Survivor Arts Project showcases the diverse creativity and ability of survivor artists.

The exhibition

You are invited to view the Survivor Arts Exhibition anytime between 11 am and 4 pm on the seventh floor of the Muirhead Tower (Muirhead Tower is R21 on the campus map).

Speaking Out

Speaking Out session, Community Day 2013The Speaking Out Workshop will take place in room 714/715 on the 7th floor of the Muirhead Tower between 2 pm and 3 pm.

Speaking Out is a new reading for wellbeing project, which uses stories and poems to spark conversations about mental health. People with personal experience of mental ill-health will read aloud from a story or poem, and ask participants to think about their own experiences and beliefs about mental illness.

Social work academics and students will be available alongside survivor artists to answer questions about Social Work and Survivor Arts at the University of Birmingham.
