HSMC has been part of my experience as a Director for social care in Birmingham over the last eight years.
We have worked together on major pieces of research, covering closure of care homes for older people and forthcoming work on commissioning. Recently we have been working together on the organisational development work that accompanies setting up the health and wellbeing board in the City. The council and the University have recognised the interdependency between great practice in public service and the academic and research strengths of the university in our strategic partnership agreement.
During my last year as President of ADASS, I have also seen the strength of the work of HSMC in offering clear evidence to the national debate on care. Its work on care home closures gave our call for calm on Southern Cross real authority.
Congratulations to HSMC on forty years of influence and to continuing to strengthen the bonds between us.
