I was a lecturer in Healthcare Planning at HSMC from 1972-1977. I then went on to be Deputy Director of the Social Service Unit and Senior Lecturer at INLOGOV.
I have been chairman of a number of NHS HAs and Trusts and I chaired the NHS Confederation from 2007-2010.
I am currently Chair of Warwickshire HWBB, Director of PMA, an independent Public Health research organisation and Co-Director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre and hold a Fellowship in the Business School at Warwick and a Visiting Chair at Coventry. I am a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, a Companion of the Institute of Healthcare Management and Chair the charity Healthlink Malawi.
HSMC was great fun at a fascinating moment of NHS history, a pity after 40 years to see the current management of the NHS in such disarray!
