I have been trying to remember what stood out as significant, but it went by so quickly and I largely remember spending hours in the little library or the dining area pouring over my assignments!
I was at HSMC as a student on the MSc Health Care Policy and Management. I remember two really stimulating lectures and intensive tutorials that have stayed with me to this day.
The lectures were first by Chris Ham on his reflections on the new NHS White Paper and the second was by Kieran Walshe on the management of healthcare quality. Together, these provided the impetus for my subsequent doctoral studies. The tutorial experience was with Penny Mullen where I remember she pulled apart the argumentative structure of my draft essays, but helped me learn key skills in clear academic writing.
